Brigid
(c) Caera Aislingeach, 2012
A new day for old ways
Her blue eyes a soft gaze
The eastern sky lit by timeless flame
Cresting high and bright like Her name
Chorus:
A Bhríd, ‘Brigid, ‘Bríg, ‘Bhrìde, Breesha, Ffryd, Bridget, etc... (several variations of Her name from various times and languages)
Well woven words illuminate
Help healer’s hands integrate
Smith’s steel strength forged in fire
Skills we hold 3 sisters inspire
Chorus:
A Bhríd, ‘Brigid, ‘Bríg, ‘Bhrìde, Breesha, Ffryd, Bridget, etc... (several variations of Her name from various times and languages)
The deep well of iomas that starts with a spark
Rising within us brightening the dark
Surging higher yet falls in cascades
We are Her fire that never fades
Chorus:
A Bhríd, ‘Brigid, ‘Bríg, ‘Bhrìde, Breesha, Ffryd, Bridget, etc... (several variations of Her name from various times and languages)
A new day for old ways...

As I Roved Out

"As I Roved Out"
Who are you, me pretty fair maid,
Who are you, me honey?
And who are you, me pretty fair maid,
And who are you, me honey?
She answered me quite modestly, I am me mother's darling
With me
Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh
And will ye come to me mother's house,
When the moon is shining clearly?
And will ye come to me mother's house
When the moon is shining clearly?
I'll open the door and I'll let you in
And divil the one that hear us
With me
Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh
So I went to her house in the middle of the night
When the moon was shining clearly
So I went to her house in the middle of the night
When the moon was shining clearly
She opened the door and she let me in and divil the one did hear us
With me
Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh
She took me horse by the bridle and the bit
And led him to the stable
She took me horse by the bridle and the bit
And led him to the stable
Saying "There's plenty of oats for a bandit's horse,
To eat it if he's able"
With me
Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh
Then she took me by the lily-white hand
Led me to the table
Then she took me by the lily-white hand
Led me to the table
Saying "There's plenty of wine for a highwayman,
To drink it if you’re able"
With me
Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh
Then we got up and we made the bed
We made it nice and aisy
Then we got up and we made the bed
we made it nice and aisy
Then I got up and I laid him/her down
Sayin’ “I hope to god you’re/I'm able”
With me
Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh
And there we lay till the break of day
Divil the one did hear us
And there we lay till the break of day
And divil the one did hear us
Then I arose and put on me clothes
Saying "Lassie, I must leave you"
With me
Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh
And when will ye pass by again
When will we be married?
And when will ye pass by again
When will we be married?
When broken shells make Christmas bells
I might then get married
With me
Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh

Longing
(c) Caera Aislingeach 2004
chorus:
I long for a lover whose heart is like the sea
One who knows our source and can journey there with me
Whose gentle touch soothes deep through my skin
And whose beauty shines from a treasure deep within
verse 1:
My heart has been hurt and I have been scared
I have fled my heart and have taken to the air
I flown so high, that no one could reach
But to be drawn back is the thing I now beseech
verse 2:
My heart is a place I myself have just now known
It's a vibrant place where all life is nurtured and grown
And hidden deep where there can be no hate
Ancient temples full of treasure lie in wait
verse 3:
I've searched o'er the mountains and over the seas
But the love I seek so far had eluded me
So now I shine my own inner light
That she may find me as I search for her by night

The Wild Hunt
(c) Sonia Matoon-Jorgenson 2013
I dreamt of a haunted autumn wood on a full moon night
I stood in a clearing of moss-covered trees, bathed in light
As I sit and listen to the wind
I sense a change in my forest kin
The trees go silent as the sound of charging hooves grows
I hear a distant horn call the charge as a raven crows
I'm frozen in place as the fear grips me
As I look to the left I begin to see
Through a break in the trees comes a large black steed with the body of a deer
Ridden by a man and flanked by wolves that sense my fear
The man draws up and calls his beasts
He stares at me as he drops to his feet
I'm unable to move or speak
Have you ever felt like this before?
The power of attraction leaves me wanting more
He never takes his eye off mine as he draws close
He gestures to the shadows behind and I see the lost souls
I'm hypnotized by his power
But something inside me refuses to cower
I nod to agree and without a word he mounts his steed
With a grip of iron he pulls me up and I am suddenly freed
I feel the wind ripping through my hair
As we charge forward I have no cares
In my waking hours I wouldn't have dared
Have you ever felt like this before?
The power of attraction leaves me wanting more
I dreamt of a haunted autumn wood on a full moon night
I stood in a clearing of moss-covered trees, bathed in light
